Forcing a browser reset

Last Updated: Release 4.2

Issue/Question

When developing HTML5 client, sometimes my most recent changes don't appear, even after I refresh the browser.

Solution

All browsers attempt to cache files (HTML, JS, CSS) to avoid the performance penalty of refreshing them over the network. When editing and changing these files frequently, sometimes the changes simply won't "show up".

The solution is to force the browser to reset the cache and update the files. Consult your browser's documentation for instructions on how to do this.

For example, below are instructions for Google Chrome. (You would complete these steps when viewing the application in browser, after launching it from the PureWeb server.)

  1. In Google Chrome, navigate to Tools | Developers tools (or press Ctrl + Shift + J).
  2. Click (and hold) the refresh button until a menu opens.
  3. Select Empty Cache and Hard Reload.
