Introduction

This release note applies to all 3.x releases of the PureWeb STK. Information will be added to this release note as subsequent versions of the component are released. To help you identify the specific differences in releases, the release note includes new features and corrections and modifications for each release. Links in the Contents section enable you to access information regarding a specific release.

The Known Issues and Recommendations section is a cumulative list with the most recent items at the top of the list. This list includes information on when individual items were found and, if applicable, corrected.

The Discontinued Support section is also a cumulative list with the most recent items at the top of the list. This list includes functionality that is no longer supported and the release number of the version in which support was discontinued.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications that were made between release 3.1.1 or earlier releases and this 3.1.2 release:

The PureWeb iOS STK QueueMouseEvent method properly queues mouse wheel events. (Issue# PWEB-2845)


Java and Android client applications can connect to the PureWeb Server when authentication is disabled. (Issue# PWEB-2848)


A filter that allows the Login form to be bypassed without disabling authentication was added. (Issue# PWEB-2849)


You can now specify command line arguments in addition to those given in the plugin.xml configuration file for the application. (Issue# PWEB-2864)


The PureWeb Installation Guide for Windows was updated to include the Microsoft Silverlight 5 Toolkit requirement for the PureWeb Silverlight Client STK. (Issue# PWEB-2927)

There were no new features introduced in this release of PureWeb 3.1.1.

Corrections and Modifications

This release includes the following corrections and modifications that were made between release 3.1 or earlier releases and this 3.1.1 release:

Android Scribble Sample client applications are no longer prevented from being built. (Issue# PWEB-2744)


Client applications developed using the PureWeb iOS STK no longer unexpectedly exit the application on iOS version 6. Note that while applications built for iOS 5 will now run on iOS 6, this does not necessarily mean that the PureWeb iOS STK will support applications built with the iOS 6 build environment. Xcode versions higher than 4.4 are not supported. (Issue# PWEB-2778)


Username and password are no longer prevented from being passed in the URL. (Issue# PWEB-2786)


Performance has improved significantly, because synchronization of very large application states no longer causes the application to timeout. (Issue# PWEB-2798)


Corrected minor errors in various documents with the PureWeb Documentation Suite. Known Issues and Recommendations

This section provides the latest information on known issues and recommendations associated with this product.


The PureWeb installation directory path cannot contain any spaces. Changing the default installation directory to C:\CSI\Pure Web will result in a File Not Found Exception. (Issue# PWEB-737)

When using Windows Server 2008, you must modify the User Access Control (UAC) settings, so that the user can edit and save configuration files. If the user has the wrong permissions, and they attempt to save a modified configuration file, an Internal Server Error will be displayed. (Issue# PWEB-919)

Found In: 3.0.0

The PureWeb 3.0 Uninstaller does not remove shortcuts from the Start Menu. This can cause confusion with new shortcuts created during PureWeb 3.1 Installation. After uninstalling PureWeb 3.0, the Calgary Scientific folder should be manually deleted from the ../Windows/Start Menu/Programs director before installing the new version of PureWeb. (Issue# PWEB-2479)

The PureWeb 3.1 Server cannot restore configuration backup files from previous PureWeb versions. If upgrading PureWeb to 3.1, please ensure that you have copied and safely stored any configuration files that you still need. (Issue# PWEB-2208)

Found In:  3.1.0

The following message may be displayed when you install the PureWeb iOS STK on Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion):

"PureWebSetup.pkg" can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.

Work Around:

  1. Navigate to System Preferences | Security & Privacy | Allow applications downloaded from:

Discontinued Support

This section documents features that are no longer supported in this software. This cumulative list is in release-number order with the most recently discontinued features at the top of the list.


Windows XP as a platform for development and running the PureWeb Server is no longer supported.

As Of: 3.1.0

Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 is no longer supported for service and client development (Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 or Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 required). Note that Microsoft Silverlight client development requires Microsoft Visual Studio 2010.
